I work from a studio in a boathouse in Australia.
My new abstract artworks consist of marble slabs which are painted and engraved. I experimented for six months which resulted in a new direction and body of abstract work.
I'm not sure what to call the marble slabs as they're a combination of painting and sculpture, plus they can either hang on the wall or sit on a sideboard and lean against the wall. The marble invites touch and there is texture, the surface and edges are could be painted and sometimes engraved.
In the studio the marble is honed to a satin finish, the edges smoothed of their razor sharp edges and holes are drilled. Occasionally I take them out into the garden and knock a few edges off. Then - onto the fun part.
